Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe UNS S32205 is a nitrogen-boosted duplex stainless steel pipe developed to combat standard corrosion problems encountered with 300-series stainless steels. The chemical composition consists of approximately 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5% to 6% nickel. This chemical combination creates a microstructure consisting of a mixture of ferrite and austenite phases, making Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe UNS S32205 tougher than purely ferritic steels while offering twice the yield strength of conventional austenitic steels. It is highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion, and exhibits magnetic properties which allow it to be easily differentiated from austenitic grades.
